There are so many people out there asking is it legal to purchase replica watch? First let’s come to the point about manufacturers who make these replica watches. Are they legal to produce these watches.
Replicas of an original model watch are considered counterfeit. Like any counterfeit item they are not legal. Rolex and other manufacturers are actively working to eliminate replica manufacturers.
However, manufacturers have their right to make watches as long as it was their own brand. If it is a replica that just looks the same but does not carry a fake logo, name, or other copywrited material it is OK provided the design isn’t patented.
On the other points factories that create these replica watches employ young laborers in order to provide you with watches at affordable prices.
It would be legal to make a watch that looks like an expensive brand, bu illegal to place the logo of the expensive brand on the watch. For manufacturers who create replica watches, they should strive to inprive the quality of their watches and create their own brand.
Is it legal to purchase replica watch?
I only ask because I recently got a fake Tag Heuer Monaco, Steve McQueen jobbie, wifey wouldnt let me spend the money on a real one.
I just cant believe how perfect it is, every little tiny detail, all the markings, even on the back and the clasp, perfect scale, everything. I have to say I wasnt expecting much, but this is so good its as good as real. I had a good look on the web and came across some really crap ones, so I am well chuffed with this. I even went into town and actually compared it with a real one too, couldnt tell the difference.
But is it legal?
Btw, it tells the correct time twice every day too
However, fake watches are legal no matter how excellent it will be. And someone answer this question as the follow:
Fakes are not legal although you will only have a problem if you:
1. Ware it when passing through custom control at an Airport.
2. Try to sell it as the real thing.
3. Take it to a watch dealer for repair.
You can get just about any make you want in the streets of Bangkok.
Not that I have been there or bought any watches.
If bought in the country of manufacture fakes range in price from about 5 to 50+ . I think most are made in Asia. The ones coasting 50 or more are nice watches and look very like the real ones. They are probably worth what you pay for them but the quality of materials and finish are no where near as good as a genuine branded watch. I’m not sure the genuine watches are worth 1,500 to 5,000 being charged.
I would rather have a good 50 watch than a 50 fake.
